A morning walk in the Naval Live Oaks Area of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. First, a tree that was cut and left along the waterline is surounded by drying sea grass. Then, a flowering shrub in the sand with the Bob Sikes Bridge and Pensacola beach in the distance.

This is a post rich in texture. It's amazing what a transformative effect black and white can have, isn't it? That first shot really benefits from a unity of tone in helping us see the sea grass and the rings of the tree. And the sand in this second shot is so white and fine. The powdery quality of it might have been lost if you'd chosen monochrome for that shot.
